Planned caesarean support with overnight care

For families planning a caesarean who want a knowledgeable, familiar face with them from preparation through to those first tender hours after birth.

A planned caesarean can feel very different to other birth experiences. It's scheduled, it's surgical, and it can bring its own mix of feelings, whether it's something you've chosen, been advised towards, or are still coming to terms with. This package is designed to make sure you feel genuinely prepared, not just logistically but emotionally too, and that you're never left navigating those first hours after theatre on your own.

What's included:

Three tailored antenatal appointments

These aren't generic antenatal appointments. We'll cover what actually happens in theatre, what to expect in recovery, your options for skin to skin, optimal cord clamping, and getting feeding started in those early hours. We'll also make space for the emotional side of things, whatever you're feeling about your birth, there's no right or wrong here and no rush. By the time your date comes around, you'll know exactly what to expect and you'll know me.

Professional support on the day with clinical knowledge

On-call around your date

Planned doesn't always mean predictable. Dates change, and occasionally labour has its own ideas before theatre even comes into it. From the point we agree your on-call window I stay close and available, so whatever happens, you're not scrambling to reach me.

2 Overnight support (9pm to 6am)

This is the part of the package I'm most proud of, because it fills a gap that I think is really important. When your partner heads home, whether that's to rest, to look after other children, or simply because they need to, the ward quietens down and it can feel very lonely very quickly. I stay with you from 9pm until 6am. I'll help you pick bubs up when your body isn't quite ready to, support you with feeding, keep an eye on baby so you can actually rest, make sure you're hydrated, have snacks, and that your pain relief is given on time. If it isn't, I'll chase it. A caesarean is major abdominal surgery and you deserve proper support through that first night, not just the hope that someone will come when you press the buzzer.

If you happen to go home after the first night, I will provide the second night of support at home for you, enabling both you and your partner to get some rest.

3 postnatal appointments, carried out once you're home can be alongside NHS care. Supporting your recovery, Infant feeding support and well-being checks for all of you.

WhatsApp support throughout

Questions, worries, and those "is this normal?" moments don't wait for appointments. I'm contactable throughout your care and I'll always respond normally within a couple of hours.

Having her in our home meant our pregnancy, birth and post natal care was so relaxed and stress free. Both births didn’t end up the way we had planned but it didn’t matter because Lynsey was there to support the new path each birth took. It took the fear out of the whole situation and allowed us to enjoy the journey.

 - Natalie & Carl

Lyns was my midwife during my pregnancy and the birth of my son...
From the moment she came round to see me I felt a weight lifted. All the stresses and uncertainties of pregnancy/birth were discussed and I felt heard and supported, which was a feeling I didn’t experience through the system.

- Saphire

"She was professional and kind and loving throughout, and our homebirth was amazing."
